The village of Ashby in 1990 and today (IELTS Writing Task 1 map)Two maps of the village of Ashby in 1990 and today. In 1990: a main road ran north to south through the village, with a river to the west. West of the road were a village green with trees and a church. East of the road were a post office and a pub, and a side road led east past a farm and farmland. A footpath led west from the main road to a footbridge over the river. A disused railway line crossed the south of the village. Today: the main road, river, village green, church and pub remain. The side road now continues west over the river on a new road bridge, and there is a roundabout where it meets the main road. The post office has become a café. The farm has been replaced by a supermarket with a car park, and the farmland south of the side road by a housing estate and a primary school. The old railway line has been turned into a cycle path.Ashby in 1990Village greenChurchPubRiverMain roadNSWE FootpathFootbridge Railway (disused) Postoffice Farm Farmland FarmlandAshby todayVillage greenChurchPubRiverMain roadNSWE Bridge Cycle path Café Supermarket Housing estate PrimaryschoolCLIMB IELTSCLIMB IELTSclimbielts.com
