Northfield town centre: now and proposed (IELTS Writing Task 1 map)Two plans of Northfield town centre, now and as proposed. Now: High Street is a road for cars running east to west through the centre, with a bus stop. North of it are shops, a bank, more shops and a large office block in the east. South of it are a large car park in the west, a library, a small park with trees and houses in the east. Proposed: High Street will become a pedestrian zone with trees, benches and a cycle lane, and cars will no longer use it; the bus stop will be removed. The bank will become a café. The office block will be halved and a multi-storey car park built in its eastern part. The car park will be replaced by a town square with a fountain and market stalls. The library will be extended into a library and community centre, taking over most of the park, which will become much smaller.
