Port Elm harbour in 1990 and today (IELTS Writing Task 1 map)Two maps of the coastal town of Port Elm in 1990 and today. In 1990: a coast road runs east to west, with houses to its north-west. A beach lies in the west. A harbour enclosed by two breakwaters, with a lighthouse at the end of the western one, holds about seven fishing boats. Along the quay there are a fish market and three warehouses. Woodland covers the north-east. Today: the road, houses, beach, breakwaters and lighthouse are unchanged. A promenade runs along the beach. The warehouses have been replaced by apartment blocks and the fish market by restaurants. Most of the harbour has become a marina with pontoons and yachts; only two fishing boats remain, in the eastern part.
